Darwin Christmas Lecture 2010 by Carlo Heip
This year’s Christmas Lecture will be given by marine biologist Carlo Heip on Sunday 12 December (2.00 – 4.00 p.m. at Naturalis). He will take the audience into the world of marine life and biodiversity. Professor Heip is general director of the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) and a member of the board of the Darwin Center. The 2010 lecture is being given as part of the International Year of Biodiversity. Entrance is free of charge and the lecture will be in Dutch.
The Darwin Christmas Lecture aims to bring scientific subjects, relating to the Darwin Center, to a wider audience. Previous lecturers have included the paleontologist Jelle Reumer, the writer and philosopher Bas Haring, the writer and biologist Tijs Goldschmidt and the Professor of Environmental Sciences Klaas van Egmond. The lecture is being arranged in liaison with de Volkskrant newspaper and the National Natural History Museum Naturalis.
