Darwin Days 2011 and Netherlands Annual Ecology Meeting
Next year’s Darwin Days are planned for Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 February 2011 in Lunteren, the Netherlands. The 2011 conference is being organized in conjunction with the Netherlands Annual Ecology Meeting. This means that the second Darwin Day will also be the first day of the Netherlands Annual Ecology Meeting. The latter meeting is being organized by the Netherlands Ecological Research Network (NERN) and the Dutch-Flemish Ecological Society (NECOV), supported by NWO.
Days 2010 Retrospective
A total of 55 people attended the 2010 Darwin Days on 21 and 22 April, including 31 PhD or postdoc researchers, 14 supervisors and 7 researchers from outside the Center. We can conclude from the questionnaire, completed by 24 participants, that the Darwin Days were useful and inspiring and that the atmosphere was very good. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Darwin Days were given a rating of 7.6. We will be making some organizational changes and some changes in the program in response to comments in the questionnaire. Next year, talks by Darwin Center PhD students and post docs will last only 15 minutes and more keynote lecturers will be invited. All supervisors, project leaders and program coordinators will also be encouraged to attend because the group attending in 2010 was relatively small.
